ELEPHANT HOCKEY 2025

2008

For many years prior to opening our current facility in Norwell, we rented ice in Hingham and Dedham. Our summer programs had 30 goalies in attendance with Mike, Lenny, and Brian coaching (along with some other amazing coaches); coach/off-ice was run by Robby Campbell (the now Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Detroit Red Wings), and our coach/medical guy was Shay McGlynn (Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Dallas Stars). Looking back, it was quite the staff. Haha.

2010

The coaching staff really wanted to get the kids skating and handling the puck — a new idea was born. Let’s create a goalie only 3v3 league. It was incredibly fun for both goalie and staff. The goalies learned a ton, had an amazing workout, and had huge gains in the their game from the new challenge. Elephant Hockey was born (as was Eden).

2013

We found that puck handling is not all about shooting a puck. At the NHL level, everyone can shoot a puck. The difference is being able to make read and quick decisions with the puck. We loved the results of Elephant Hockey and we wanted to make it a permanent summer program for MC. BUT — it was time for MassCrease to grow and this growth had a smaller home! We relocated to Norwell and the “Elephant Hockey” model wasn’t possible in our new space. The MC facility was born though (as was Mila).

Enter SUMMER 2025 — the ice is rented at Old Rockland Rink and we are ready to PARTY — Elephant Hockey style! We are re-creating game situations in a different way, without the pressure — allowing goalies to make mistakes and grow with their puck handling, make reads, decisions, and quick passes while moving their feet. Join us this summer as we bring Elephant Hockey BACK!
